NAME
yp − Network Information Service protocol

DESCRIPTION
The Network Information Service is used for the administration of network-wide databases. The service is composed mainly of two programs: for finding a NIS server and for accessing the NIS databases.
PROGRAMMING
Refer to ypclnt(3N) for information on the programmatic interface to NIS servers and databases.
