HELP(1)
NAME
help − ask for help
USAGE
help [ arguments ]
DESCRIPTION
Help finds information to explain the use of, or a particular message from, an SCCS command. You may supply several arguments, but if you supply none, help prompts for one.
The arguments may be either message numbers (which normally appear in parentheses following messages), or command names, or one of the following types:
type 1 Begins with non-numerics, ends in numerics. The non-numeric prefix is usually an abbreviation for the program or set of routines that produced the message. For example, ge3 means message 3 from the get (1) command.
type 2 Does not contain numerics, i.e., appears as a command name such as the name get.
type 3 Is all numeric, e.g., 26.
When all else fails, try help stuck.
FILES
/usr/lib/help directory containing files of message text
/usr/lib/help/helploc file containing locations of help files not in /usr/lib/help
