ROFFBIB(1) BSD ROFFBIB(1)
NAME
roffbib - run off bibliographic database
SYNOPSIS
roffbib [ -e ] [ -h ] [ -nN ] [ -o ] [ -r ] [ -s ] [ -Tterm ] [ -x ] [ -m
mac ] [ -V ] [ -Q ] [ file ... ]
DESCRIPTION
roffbib prints out all records in a bibliographic database, in
bibliography format rather than as footnotes or endnotes. Generally it
is used in conjunction with sortbib, as shown below:
sortbib database | roffbib
roffbib accepts most of the options that nroff(1), understands, most
importantly the -T flag to specify terminal type.
If you enter abstracts or comments following the %X field key, roffbib
formats them into paragraphs for an annotated bibliography. You may
supply several %X fields if several annotation paragraphs are desired.
OPTIONS
-e Produce equally-spaced words in adjusted lines, using full
terminal resolution.
-h Use output tabs during horizontal spacing to speed output and
reduce the output character count. Assume tab setting to be
every nominal character witdth.
-nN Make N the page number of the first page generated.
-x Suppress the printing of these abstracts.
-m mac Specify a user-defined set of macros to replace the ones
defined in /usr/lib/tmac/tmac.bib. There should be a space
between the -m and the macro filename.
-V Send output to a Versatec printer.
-Q Queue output for phototypesetter.
Five command-line registers control formatting style of the bibliography,
much like the number registers of ms(7).
-rN1 Number the references starting at one (1).
-rV2 Double space the bibliography,
-rV1 Double space references but single space annotation paragraphs.
-rL6i Change the line length from the default 6.5 inches to 6 inches.
-rO1i Change the page offset from the default of 0 to one inch (Use a
capital O, not zero). Note: with the -V and -Q flags the
default page offset is already one inch.
BUGS
Users have to rewrite macros to create customized formats.
