Product Support Kit (SFW-PSK4-MED10)
Preface
This document describes the Product Support Kit
(SFW-PSK4-MED10), which provides software support for new
functionality that was released after SR10.1. The Product
Support Kit is provided on media separate from the software
shipped with the hardware.
This document consists of an overview of the kit, changes to
the installation procedure, a summary of changes to techni-
cal documentation, and a list of known bugs. Note that this
document provides an overview of new functionality. We
reference various technical manuals throughout this release
document for additional information.
The normal software installation process places a version of
this release document in each node's /install/doc/apollo
directory. Release Documents for optional Domain software
are installed in a similar manner. The SR10.1 Release Docu-
ment is also included in the SR10.1 /install/doc/apollo
directory so that you can determine what functionality was
added at that release.
Apollo Computer Inc. reserves the right to make changes in
specification and other information contained in this publi-
cation without prior notice, and the reader should in all
cases consult Apollo Computer Inc. to determine whether any
such changes have been made.

Product Support Kit (SFW-PSK4-MED10)
Chapter 1: Product Support Kit Overview
This Product Support Kit (SFW-PSK4-MED10) provides addi-
tional software support for Series 3500(TM), Series
4000(TM), and Series 4500(TM) Apollo(R) workstations running
SR10.1. For these workstations, this PSK moves the operating
system revision level up to SR10.1.2 and is required to sup-
port the following:
⊕ SCSI devices controlled by the Multi-Function Peri-
pheral Controller (SWFC), including:
⊕ Apollo's SCSI 8-mm tape drive device used with
OmniBack(TM) running on SR10.1.
⊕ SCSI 1/2-inch reel-to-reel tape drive.
⊕ SCSI 1/4-inch cartridge tape drive.
⊕ The conversion of the 19-inch color monitor (010700)
from a 68-Hz screen refresh rate to a 70-Hz screen
refresh rate. (Preserved from SFW-PSK3-MED10.)
⊕ The Disk/Multiple Disk Expansion Module, striping on
multiple disk configurations, and enhanced support for
the SCSI cartridge tape drive. (Preserved from SFW-
PSK2-MED10.)
This release document describes the contents of the kit and
how to install it. Refer to the Domain System Software
Release Notes (005809-A03) for detailed information about
SR10.1 software.
Install SFW-PSK4-MED10 only on m68k (Motorola) systems run-
ning SR10.1 or SR10.1.x. The kit installation procedure is
the same as a layered software product (see Chapter 2 of
this document and Media Installation Instructions for
Optional Software Products, Order No. 10854-A04).

Product Support Kit (SFW-PSK4-MED10)
Chapter 2: Installing the Product Support Kit
The Product Support Kit is installed as layered software
only on m68k (Motorola) systems running SR10.1 or SR10.1.x.
Media Installation Instructions for Optional Software Pro-
ducts (Order No. 10854-A04) and Installing Software with
Apollo's Release and Installation Tools (Order No. 008860-
A00) provide instructions for installing the software and
are included in this kit. After you install SFW-PSK4-MED10,
/sau7 systems (DN3500, DN4000, DN4500) display a banner
showing the operating system at revision SR10.1.2 when the
bldt command is invoked.
The software on this PSK must be installed on any /sau7 m68k
(Motorola) system running the following devices:
⊕ SCSI 8-mm tape drive
⊕ SCSI 1/2-inch reel-to-reel tape drive
⊕ SCSI 1/4-inch cartridge tape drive
The following table lists all the files (including those
preserved from PSK3 and PSK2) installed with this kit.
