uucico(1M) uucico(1M)
NAME uucico - transfers files as specified by uucp work files SYNOPSIS uucico [-cdevice-type] [-dspool-directory] [-f] [-iinterface] [-rmode] [-ssystem] [-ulogin-name] [-xdebug-level] ARGUMENTS -cdevice-type Causes uucico to connect only those systems whose entries in the device-type field, which is the first field in /usr/lib/uucp/Devices file, match the value of device-type. The value of device-type is usually the name of a local area network. -dspool-directory Causes uucico to override the default spool directory, /usr/spool/uucp, and use the absolute pathname of a directory specified by spool-directory. The spool directory contains uucp work files. -f Overrides the limit on the maximum number of concurrent uucico processes as defined in the file /usr/lib/uucp/Limits. -iinterface Defines the interface to be used by uucico in slave mode. Known interfaces are UNIX(Reg.)(default), TCP, 801, or 212. -rmode Causes uucico to start up in the mode specified by mode. A value of 1 specifies master mode. A value of 0 specifies slave mode, which is the default. When in master mode, uucico initiates the conversation with another instance of uucico on a remote system. When in slave mode, uucico responds to a uucico process that is in master mode. For any single conversation, there must be one instance of uucico in master mode and one instance in slave mode. If you start uucico at the command line or from a program, such as cron, mode is usually 1. -ssystem Causes uucico to contact the system specified by system. The uucico command matches the value of system with the first field of the /usr/lib/uucp/Systems file to get the information that it needs to contact the remote system. This option is required when uucico runs in master mode. The maximum length of system is 14 characters. January 1992 1

-xdebug-level Causes uucico to run with debugging turned on and at the debug level specified by debug-level. The value of debug-level is a number from 0 to 9. Higher numbers produce more detailed debugging information. DESCRIPTION uucico transfers files as specified by the work files that are created by the uucp command. FILES /usr/lib/uucp Directory of uucp commands and configuration files /usr/lib/uucp/Devconfig File that configures devices by the type of service they provide, such as cu or uucico /usr/lib/uucp/Devices File that describes the devices that can be used to connect to other systems /usr/lib/uucp/Limits File that limits the number of concurrent uucico, uuxqt, and uusched processes /usr/lib/uucp/Permissions File that defines user permissions to read and write files /usr/lib/uucp/Sysfiles Optional file specifying that cu or uucp is to use a file other than the default file, /usr/lib/uucp/Systems, to get configuration information for remote systems /usr/lib/uucp/Systems File that lists the systems to call and how to call them /usr/lib/uucp/uucico Executable file /usr/spool/locks/* Directory of uucp lock files /usr/spool/uucp/* Directory of uucp work files /usr/spool/uucppublic/* Directory of files that uucp has transferred SEE ALSO cron(1M), uusched(1M) uucp(1C), uustat(1C), uux(1C) in A/UX Command Reference Chapter 8, ``Setting Up the UUCP System,'' in A/UX Network System Administration 2 January 1992
