NAME
console, systty, syscon, remote - console interface

DESCRIPTION
The console provides the operator interface to the computer.

The file /dev/console is the system console, and refers to
an asynchronous serial data line originating from the system
board or the console processor board depending on system
type. This special file implements the features described
     in termio(7).

The file /dev/systty is a hardlink to /dev/console.

The file /dev/syscon is typically a hardlink to /dev/console
except in those cases where init(1M) links it to the current
     controlling terminal.

The file /dev/remote refers to a second asynchronous serial
data line originating from the system board or console pro-
cessor board. This special file implements the features
     described in termio(7).

On Series 4000 HN4800 and Series 5000 HN5800 systems, there
are two serial data lines for each cpu board in the system.
Therefore, the files /dev/remote2 and /dev/remote3 are for
the third and fourth serial data lines that originate from
the second cpu board, the files /dev/remote4 and
/dev/remote5 are for the fifth and sixth serial data lines
that originate from the third cpu board, and the files
/dev/remote6 and /dev/remote7 are the seventh and eighth
serial data lines that originate from the fourth cpu board.
