NAME

mklost+found − Makes a lost+found directory for fsck

SYNOPSIS

mklost+found

DESCRIPTION

The mklost+found command creates a lost+found directory in the current directory.  mklost+found also creates (and then removes) a number of empty files so that there will be empty slots for fsck.  The fsck command reconnects any orphaned files and directories by placing them in the lost+found directory with an assigned inode number.  mklost+found is not normally needed since mkfs automatically creates the lost+found directory when a new file system is created.

FILES

/usr/sbin/mklost+found
