dgs_strerr(1M) DG/UX 5.4R3.00 dgs_strerr(1M)
NAME
dgs_strerr - Data General streams interface daemon
SYNOPSIS
/usr/sbin/dgs_strerr
DESCRIPTION
The dgs_strerr daemon processes information it receives from
the /dev/log pseudo-device. It creates an AV/Alert machine
initiated packet with this information and forwards it to
the dgsvc_d daemon. With AV/Alert support enabled, for Data
General warranty and contract customers, the daemon will
automatically send the information to the designated Data
General service center.
The dgs_strerr daemon should be used instead of the strerr
and strace daemons.
EXAMPLES
The following error was received by the /dev/log pseudo-
device, sent to the dgs_strerr daemon, and written to
/var/adm/dgsvcmgr/dgsvcd_log:
(11-7-91 9:0:2) (dgs_strerr) Error : message
This message indicates that a STREAMS driver or module sent
the message "message" to the /dev/log daemon.
FILES

DIAGNOSTICS
dgs_strerr exits if:
1) It cannot initiate a process to run in
2) It cannot open the /dev/log pseudo-device
3) It cannot connect to dgsvc_d to report an error
