ullcadmin(1M) ullcadmin(1M)

NAME
     ullcadmin - start/stop an interface

SYNOPSIS
     /usr/sbin/ullcadmin -e interface

     /usr/sbin/ullcadmin -d interface

     /usr/sbin/ullcadmin -p address

DESCRIPTION
Token ring networks have ring managers which can send a Remove-MAC
frame to any station. When they do this, the token ring station
unmounts itself from the ring, and the driver outputs a message; the
driver does not initiate an automatic remount to the ring. The system
administrator of the token ring station should then contact the ring
manager to query the reason for the Remove-MAC frame. Once the error
has been rectified, the system administrator must restart the affected
     token ring interface.

ullcadmin can also be used for FDDI (where there is a similar mechan-
ism) and for Ethernet. Unlike ifconfig, which switches the interface
on and off on a logical level only, ullcadmin executes a physical
reset or restart of the interface.

OPTIONS
     -e interface
enables interface. This restarts the interface and should be used
when, for example, a Tokenring-Remove-MAC frame has been
          received.

     -d interface
          disables interface. Stops the interface.

     -p interface address
sets the physical address of the network interface. The interface
involved must not have been started already.
