dkpsdfinit(8) dkpsdfinit(8)
NAME
dkpsdfinit - initialize disk data structures
SYNOPSIS
dkpsdfinit [-v] devicepath
DESCRIPTION
dkpsdfinit initializes the PSDF (Pyramid Standard Disk Format) data
structures on the disk named devicepath. devicepath should be the
zeroth raw disk partition. For example, /dev/ios0/rsdisk000s0 speci-
fies the zeroth partition of the first IOS (SCSI) disk on the system.
The disk type, partition information, and tuning parameters currently
in use are written to the disk. Since there is no change in the
operating parameters of the disk, this command is always safe to run.
The data structures will be written into a reserved area of the disk
that must have previously been specified using dkindex, dksetup, or
format.
Use setinfo, dkpart, and dktune to modify the operating parameters of
the disk.
OPTIONS
-v Verbose. The progress of the command is noted on stdout.
DIAGNOSTICS
Exit status is normally 0. If an error occurs, exit status is non-
zero.
