  calendar(1) CLIX calendar(1)

  NAME

calendar - Runs a reminder service

  SYNOPSIS

    calendar [-]

  DESCRIPTION

The calendar command runs a reminder service. The command consults the
file calendar in the current directory and displays lines that contain
today's or tomorrow's date anywhere in the line. Most reasonable month-
day dates such as ``Aug. 24,'' ``august 24,'' ``8/24,'' and so on, are
recognized, but not ``24 August'' or ``24/8''. On weekends ``tomorrow''
    extends through Monday.

When an argument is present, calendar does its job for every user who has
a file calendar in his or her login directory and sends them any positive
results by mail. Normally this is done daily by facilities in the UNIX
    operating system.

  FILES

    /usr/lib/calprog Calculates today's and tomorrow's dates

    /etc/passwd Password file

/tmp/cal* A calendar file in the current directory

  EXAMPLES

The command calendar will display any lines in the file calendar in the
current directory that have today's date in the line.

  NOTES

Your calendar must be public information for you to get reminder service.

The calendar command's extended idea of ``tomorrow'' does not account for
    holidays.

  EXIT VALUES

    Exit values are not valid.
