confirm(1) CLIX confirm(1)
NAME
confirm - Requires user confirmation before running a command
SYNOPSIS
/usr/ip32/smgr/confirm command [arg ... ]
FLAGS
command Specifies the command name to be run.
args ... Specifies any arguments the command expects to receive.
DESCRIPTION
The confirm command acquires user confirmation before running a requested
command. This command is useful in keeping commands selected from the
Screen Manager (smgr) pulldown menu from being invoked inadvertently, such
as the running of /etc/shutdown or /etc/reboot. Requiring the command to
be invoked from the smgr pulldown menu with confirm forces a user to
choose between canceling or running the requested command once it has been
selected from the smgr pulldown menu.
When confirm is run, the Confirm menu is displayed and asks Are you sure
you want to command [args]?. Selecting OK starts the command. Selecting
Cancel prevents the command from starting. If an error occurs when
confirm attempts to invoke the command, an error box is displayed that
states System cannot perform command [args].
The default usr/ip32/smgr/smgr_pd file uses confirm to run /etc/shutdown
and /etc/reboot so that the user will be prompted before a workstation
shutdown or reboot occurs.
EXIT VALUES
The function always returns a value of 0.
