  NAME

vmail, xvmail - Runs visual interfaces to X.400 mailer

  SYNOPSIS

    vmail [-C] [-v] [-i min] [-u username]

    xvmail [-C] [-v] [-i min] [-u username]

  FLAGS

-C Starts the interface as a collapsed icon on the screen. (To see
the interface, click on the icon.)

-i min Specifies the interval between checks for new mail when the user
is reading mail. The default interval is 10 minutes.

    -u username
Allows you to read and answer mail for another user if they have
given you access to their system.

-v Validates the addresses of the recipient before sending mail. If
the recipent's address cannot be validated, a prompt appears and
asks if the mail should be sent anyway.

  DESCRIPTION

The vmail and xvmail commands run visual interfaces to the X.400 mailer
and SMTP mail. These commands allow the user to read, write, and send
    mail messages.

Use the vmail command on Environ V-based window systems. Use the xvmail
command for X Window-based window systems.

Help is available within vmail, and is accessed by clicking on the help
    button with the mouse.

  EXAMPLES

    1. To start the interface, key in the following command:

        vmail

    2. This command starts vmail, validates addresses each time mail is sent,
and sets the interval between new mail checks to 5 minutes.

  FILES

$HOME/aliases An optional alias file. In order for this alias file to
be used by vmail, the environment variable XMAIL_ALIASES
must be set to the path of the file.

    $HOME/.elm/aliases.text
An optional alias file used by the Elm mailer. The vmail
command will also let the user send mail to the aliases
                    defined in this file.

  NOTES

Because of graphics requirements, vmail is available only on Intergraph
    graphic workstations.

The FORMS_S product is required to run vmail.

The XFORMSRT product is required to run xvmail.

  EXIT VALUES

The vmail command exits with a value of 1 if the forms needed for the
interface can not be displayed. Otherwise, vmail exits with a value of 0.
