NAME
vmedia, xvmedia - Runs visual interface to media management, storage, and
retrieval
SYNOPSIS
vmedia [-C]
xvmedia [-C]
FLAGS
-C Starts the interface as a collapsed icon on the screen. (To see the
interface, click on the icon.)
DESCRIPTION
The vmedia and xvmedia commands provide visual interfaces to utilities
that manage media, and store and retrieve data from media. The commands
allow users to manipulate media storage devices and the data going to and
from those devices. The vmedia command is available for Environ V-based
window systems. Use the xvbrowse command for X Window-based window
systems.
The devices that can be managed by vmedia and xvmedia are floppy,
microfloppy, tape, remote tape, disk, and remote disk.
The following device manipulation capabilities are available:
⊕ Formatting floppies.
⊕ Copying floppies.
⊕ Allocating and deallocating remote tape.
⊕ Making a filesystem on a floppy.
⊕ Mounting/unmounting a floppy.
The following data manipulation capabilities are available:
⊕ Store selected files and directories to one of the devices in cpio or
tar format.
⊕ Restore selected files and directories from one of the devices if they
are in cpio or tar format.
⊕ Set a specific time to do storing.
⊕ Set a periodic schedule to do storing.

⊕ Lists of files and directories can be saved as jobs for easier
selection at a later time.
Help is available within vmedia, and is accessed by clicking on the help
button with the mouse.
EXAMPLES
To start the interface, key in the following command:
vmedia
NOTES
Because of graphics requirements, vmedia and xvmedia are available only on
Intergraph graphic workstations.
The FORMS_S product is required to run vmedia.
EXIT VALUES
The vmedia command exits with a value of 1 if the forms needed for the
interface cannot be displayed. Otherwise, vmedia exits with a value of 0.
