ddh(8) CLIX ddh(8)
NAME
ddh - Runs message handling system (MHS) deferred delivery handler (DDH)
SYNOPSIS
ddh -s
FLAGS
-s Spawns the handler process.
DESCRIPTION
The deferred delivery handler (DDH) manages requests passed to it from the
message transfer agent (MTA). The ddh command is an extension of the
message transfer agent (MTA). The ddh command manages all deferred
delivery requests that are passed to it from the MTA by the deferral
request queue (DRQ).
Once the delivery time arrives for a message, the ddh command copies the
file (message) into the Input Queue (IQ). The MTA then routes and
delivers the message as if it had just been submitted.
CAUTIONS
The ddh command is an optional feature of the Message Handling Service
(MHS). If the MTA is not configured to defer locally, the message is
routed to the RTS (where the deferral may take place) or alternatively
delivered immediately. In either case, deferred delivery cancellation
cannot be invoked.
The user should never invoke the ddh command. The MHS System
Administrator should place an entry in the crontab file to have the ddh -s
command started every 15 minutes to check the DDQ.
DIAGNOSTICS
An I/O error can occur if the handler cannot open the docket file.
EXIT VALUES
Exit values are not valid.
