DRUM(4) COMMAND REFERENCE DRUM(4)

NAME
     drum - paging pseudo-device

DESCRIPTION
Drum is a special file which provides access to all paging
space available to UTek in the same manner that UTek
accesses it. It is only useful to special programs that are
dealing with block numbers relative to /dev/drum.

When there is only one possible paging device, this device
is equivalent to that disk partition. When more than one
device can potentially support paging, drum provides access
to all available space with exactly the same interleave
     mechanism used for actual paging.

The kernel controls allocation of paging space with internal
tables; this information is not available outside the
kernel, so the special users of drum must obtain pointers by
     various mystical means.

FILES
