IMPORT(8)               COMMAND REFERENCE               IMPORT(8)

NAME
     import - import file systems from remote hosts

SYNOPSIS
     import host_name [host_name . . .]

DESCRIPTION
     Under NFS (Network File System) import allows a user with
     root access to the remote host to import file systems from
     the remote host or hosts to the local host. The remote host
     must also be running under NFS and have root access for the
     user on the local host. Edit the .rhosts file on the remote
     host to gain root access (see .rhost(5n)).

     A directory for the file system is created on the local host
     and the local /etc/fstab file is updated with the new file
     system information. /etc/fstab must then be edited manually
     with vifstab (vifstab(8)) to delete entries for unwanted
     file systems.

     No changes are made to the remote host.

EXAMPLES
     The following example imports the file system on the remote
     host shark to the local host:

          import shark

FILES
     /etc/fstab File containing descriptive information about
                 the various file systems.
