Problem Log
No pre-boot diagnostics
When the system is switched on, the pre-boot diagnostics LEDs under the power switch flash briefly and then stay dark. The pre-boot diagnostics do not execute, the LEDs do not indicate any error code, and the display monitor stays dark.
Re-seat the i80186 CPU in its socket on the IOP board in slot C4. Clean the contacts, if necessary.
Boot stops at 0200
When starting ViewPoint, the cursor code stops at 0200. If the Extended Boot Diagnostics are loaded from rigid or floppy disk, it stops with error code B502.
There is a major fault on the Mesa Processor Board (MPB). It does not appear related to either of the VLSI gate arrays.
Further information pending successful troubleshooting effort.
Boot stops at 0937
When starting ViewPoint, the cursor code stops at 0937.
ViewPoint is waiting for a reply from the network time server. If you do not have a Xerox time server on your network, boot the ViewPoint installation disk and use the 6085 Special Installation and Error Recovery Commands to either convert the system to a standalone system, or install the Set Time Utility.
Boot stops at 7504 after new installation of ViewPoint
The User Volume needs initializing. With the cursor code at 7504, simultaneously press the I and V keys and hold for approximately 30 seconds, then release. Startup will continue.
