DUMPALIAS(1) GENIX Programmer's Manual DUMPALIAS(1)
NAME
dumpalias - show aliases used by mail program
SYNOPSIS
dumpalias [ -ano ] [ -f file ] alias ...
DESCRIPTION
Dumpalias dumps the database of aliases used by the mail(1) program.
This allows you to know who all of the recepients of a mail message
would be. If no aliases are given to the command, then all aliases
in the database are printed. Otherwise, just the named aliases are
printed.
Aliases can reference other aliases recursively to a large depth.
Dumpalias follows all such references, and generates the fully
expanded list of users. If you want to see which aliases reference
other aliases, then use the -n option to prevent the expansion of
recursive aliases.
Aliases can reference user names, absolute file paths, or programs
to be run. Dumpalias usually only shows user names in an expansion.
If you want to see everything then use the -a option.
Dumpalias formats and sorts the database information before print-
ing. The -o option will show the original data without any changes.
The -f option takes a following file name which is the name of an
alternate database file. This name does not include the .dir or
.pag extention.
