AVAILABILITY

viewprint is available as part of OpenWindows Version 3.1 and the Solaris 2.1 operating system.

DESCRIPTION

viewprint is a print utility used by navigator(1).  viewprint uses bookinfo(5) to find the PostScript files corresponding to the book book-id in the AnswerBook answerbook-id and prints these files with lp(1).

Specify id of the AnswerBook that contains the document to be printed.

−P printer
Send document to printer

−f filename
Send document to filename (instead of printer)

−R Reverse the order of pages (last page first)

−l language Specify preferred language for printing documents.  viewprint will print the "language" version of a given document if available; otherwise it will print the English version. Overrides value of $LANG if $LANG is set.

OpenWindows users do not typically need to use viewprint.

ENVIRONMENT

This environment variable must be set to the full path name of the AnswerBook’s bookinfo file. See bookinfo(5) for more information.

DIAGNOSTICS

viewprint prints an error message on failure and returns a non-zero exit status.

NOTES

viewprint assumes the printer is PostScript-capable. In addition, most AnswerBook documents will not print correctly on a printer that does not support the Palatino font.
