mmd(1) CLIX mmd(1)
NAME
mmd - Creates an MS-DOS sub directory
SYNOPSIS
mmd [-v] msdosdirectory
FLAGS
-v Runs the command in verbose mode. This flag displays the new
directory name if the name supplied is invalid.
DESCRIPTION
The mmd command creates a new directory on an MS-DOS formatted disk. Sub
directories are supported with either the slash (/) or '\' separator. The
use of the '\' separator will require the directory name to be enclosed in
quotes to protect it from the shell.
NOTES
If an invalid directory name is specified, mmd will change the name. If
the verbose mode is set, mmd will display the new directory name.
An error occurs if the directory already exists.
The environmental variable MCWD may be used to establish a current working
directory (relative to the MS-DOS disk).
The environmental variable FLOPPY may be used to establish a default
floppy drive other than the device currently linked to /dev/rdsk/fl.
Valid choices include /dev/rdsk/floppy to designate a 5.25-inch drive, or
/dev/rdsk/ufloppy to designate a 3.5-inch drive.
